About Trinity Custom Carpentry

Quality of work and integrity are the foundations on which Trinity Custom Carpentry is built, never compromising quality for quantity.

I am more than satisfied with all the completed work carried out by Justin Howard & Trinity Custom Carpentry. Justin Howard is a true professional, reliable, and trust worthy.

It is hard enough to find a contractor you can trust to complete work with you present, let alone meet the standard of work you expect. I was able to entrust Justin Howard & Trinity Custom Carpentry with my home to finish my two stairways in maple, install three floors of maple flooring, and the installation of all baseboards and casing with out any issues. All of this was done while I was working out in Northern Alberta. I came back home to find all work complete and my house clean.
Being the professional that Justin is, he kept an open line of communication via phone and email, always making sure he understood what I wanted in the work being done. He kept me updated on the progress and finish of work by text, email, and the all–important digital photos. I never felt that at anytime, work was being done that I would not be happy with.

Thanks for all the hard work, it shows!

When we decided to upgrade/update the staircase in our front hall, we immediately invited Justin at Trinity Custom Carpentry to provide a quote for the project. This part of our decision was based on our personal knowledge of Justin’s integrity and attention to detail.

After gaining a good understanding of what we were seeking and offering a creative solution that would give us the look we wanted, we gave him the nod to take on the project. We were impressed with Justin’s commitment to seeing the job to completion on schedule and on budget, and we were delighted with the outcome. We would be pleased to have Justin head up any future building projects in our home!

What is a licensed carpenter?

A licensed carpenter is someone who has earned a college diploma in Carpentry, has completed 7200 apprenticeship hours of on-the-job training under another licensed carpenter and has successfully passed a Ministry exam.

There are three phases of academic training that must be completed (General, Intermediate and Advanced levels). The General phase focuses primarily on basic carpentry skills, handheld and stationary tools. The Intermediate phase focuses on residential construction ie: framing, doors, stairs and rafter layout. The Advanced phase focuses on commercial construction with an emphasis on concrete and steel. Following this criteria, an exam is written under the Ministry of Training, with the expectation of 70% for a passing grade to achieve a red seal certified carpenter status. A license is then issued. This license is recognized throughout Canada.

Justin completed his training and became a licensed carpenter in 2009.

A bit about Justin…

I graduated from the Loyalist College Corrections program in 2000 and after five years in the field working with Young Offenders I decided to take a leap of faith and switch careers. I felt a restlessness and desired to explore other career paths. A friend encouraged me to work alongside him to get a feel for carpentry work, and this is when I fell in love with building. A passion was sparked and I then began my journey of entering the trade of carpentry.

Everything started anew! I went through the apprenticeship program, completed over 7200 hours on the job training under the watchful eye of a licensed carpenter, completed all three mandatory phases at St. Lawrence College, and then wrote my four–hour carpentry exam. Once I received my license Trinity Custom Carpentry was born May 15th, 2009.

I have had the pleasure of growing my business over the past years with a foundation that has been built upon hard work and integrity. I have also been blessed by the support of my wife and two young daughters as Trinity Custom Carpentry continues to develop.
